What is a Squishdate?[]
Most Squishmallows will have a "Squishdate" listed on their tag, which are seemingly random dates usually set somewhere within a few months to a year before the Squishmallow originally first hit store shelves. Squishdates serve to add another unique feature to each character that collectors can find meaning in and even personally connect with. While nothing has been stated officially, people seem to most often interpret this date as essentially the Squishmallow equivalent to a birthday.
However, Squishdates doesn't seem equate to a birthday in Squishmallows like Neha. Her assigned Squishdate is 11.10.2022, but her bio mentions that she is a Pisces, with the zodiac sign having a governing period of February 19-March 20. Should her Squishdate be considered a birthday, this would make her Scorpio instead.
Which Squishmallows are given Squishdates?[]
Every standard series Squishmallow character is given a set Squishdate specific to them. On top of this, different editions of the same character will often be given different Squishdates from one another; for example, the Squishdate used for Connor's base design is 4.17.2017, but the Squishdate used for the "Fuzzy Connor" design is 11.03.2021. That being said, sometimes (though not as commonly) new editions will just use the same Squishdate as the base design of the character.
Notably, Squishmallows may sometimes be produced with a simplified tag that doesn't list their Squishdate, though this isn't too common. Furthermore, licensed Squishmallows (ex. Sanrio, Pokemon, etc.) and some of the spin-off plushie lines (ex. Stackables, Hug Mees, Flip-A-Mallows, etc.) do not have Squishdates, with their tags always omitting the Size-Collector Number-Squishdate section entirely.

- The Squishdate is always written on the tag in the US standard MM.DD.YYYY format. This seems to be consistent no matter where in the world you purchased the Squishmallow from.
- There are a number of conflicting explanations floating around through word-of-mouth in fan circles about how Squishdates are chosen. Some commonly shared explanations include:
- The Squishdate is the day that the Squishmallow was first dreamt up by the design team.
- The Squishdate is the day that the character was given their name.
- The Squishdate is the day that the Squishmallow's design was finalized and ready to begin manufacturing.
- The Squishdate does not correspond to any real life milestone and is instead randomly/procedurally generated, existing solely as a marketing gimmick.
- The Squishdate is the Squishmallow's release date (this one is verifiably false; Squishmallows usually release somewhat after their listed Squishdate). As well some Squishdates are post dated to the official release date.
